The much anticipated debut CD, "The Mercy Seat", contains 12 original songs that blend pop, roots rock and alternative music styles to create a unique listening experience. Both the personal and larger societal context are addressed, as the songs explore the myriad complexities of the emotional experience in a down to earth, heartfelt manner.
"I came across a phrase from the Bible cited in a novel I was reading, and I thought it poignantly evoked a spirit of forgiving the human race for its frailties and forgiving oneself." That's how Andie describes the inspiration for the title track "The Mercy Seat."
For "The Mercy Seat", Andie enlisted producer Mike Harvey and many talented musicians including Harry Dailey (Jimmy Buffet's band) and local favorite Dave Kitchen. The CD's original arrangements infuse each song with rich, vibrant sound, at the same time the strong lyrics anchor the songs. Her voice has a unique character, and the strong and emotive phrasing is a perfect medium for the songs that make this compilation so captivating.
