Christoph Busse, winner of the prestigious Lower Saxony Jazz Podium Prize in the years 1999, 2001 and 2003, added a whole new dimension to hiphop jazz in Gunter Hampel's "Next Generation". The Chrisoph Busse trio, which was founded in 1998, was the only German ensemble to play at the 2005 Baku Festival in Azerbaijan.
The press has celebrated Christoph Busse as "one of the best modern jazz pianists in Germany today", and his latest album, "A Message In A Bottle", bears witness to this unique talent.
The artist and his excellent accompaniment have taken compositions by Sting, The Police and Donald Fagan on a fabulous journey of musical interpretation. The trio uses very precise transitions and plays with the finer details of these artists' compositions to develop new musical highlights that underscore the unique quality of Sting and Fagan as modern composers. Their classic hits evolve an entirely new subtlety and force in the acoustic jazz versions without losing any of their original melodic concept, a transformation that only works due to the brilliant interaction of each member of the trio. The listener can hear right from the first notes of this album that the Christoph Busse trio is a group of experienced, full-blood jazz players who know each other like the back of their hands and share the joy and fun of their music.
Christoph Busse has chosen nine well-known pieces and rearranged them for his trio. Arrangement after arrangement, one is served with marvellous delicacies that have been intelligently constructed and are played with pure inspiration.
