Laura's fifth album was released on september 15th, 2000.The title comes from the song that Biagio Antonacci wrote for her, and it's the first single for the launching of the record.
In this album Laura compares both as co-author in all the lyrics, except for 「Tra te e il mare」 and 「The extra mile」, and as composer of two songs: 「Anche se non mi vuoi」 and 「Per vivere」. The album includes very different subjects: 「Per vivere」 is inspired by the story of a brasilian child that Laura met in occasion of a concert in Rio de Janeiro in 1997, 「Viaggio con te」 is dedicated to her father Fabrizio, 「Fidati di me」 to a girl from Turin「who lost the will to fight」, and 「Jenny」 was written when Laura watched the film 「City of angels」 (with Nicolas Cage) and it's the portrait of an angel that comes down on the earth to save a person.
Laura recorded even a song in English, 「The extra-mile」, the original sound-track of Pokémon 2000.
The artistic producers are, besides Laura herself (for the fist time) and Alfredo Cerruti, Dado Parisini (that produced even her two previous albums) and Celso Valli (producer of Andrea Bocelli and Eros Ramazzotti, among the others). An important contribution to the album is given by KC Porter (producer of Santana) and Andreas Carlsson (author of Backstreet Boys and Celine Dion) with the song 「Il mio sbaglio più grande」. This song was written in English for the project of an album completely in English, that will be released some years later.
"Tra te e il mare" was recorded in part in Italy (Milan and Bologna) and in part abroad (Los Angeles and London), was mixed at the Record Plant Studios in Hollywood by Jon Jacobs (Beatles, Peter Gabriel) and masterized in Hollywood from Bernie Grundman (Ricky Martin, Alanis Morissette).
Besides the numerous italian musicians, there are some famous stranger musicians: the drummer Kurt Bisquera (Elton John, Tina Turner), the bassist Lee Sklar (Phil Collins) and the guitarists Michael Thompson (Madonna, Michael Jackson) and Mike Landau (Mariah Carey), among the others.
