个人觉得现在的Portman还是很有前途的，因为这几年她一直在不断的探索新的创作思路。
虽然在Oliver Twist中依然可以很容易感觉到Portman所惯用的那种弦乐加黑管所表现出的那种十九世纪欧洲的特有雾色柔情，但其实这已在预料之中，因为Portman还是很习惯写这种题材的配乐的，比如：Nicholas Nickleby，Chocolat...都是类似的题材，而且思路也是很相近的。但当你整体听完之后便会慨叹，Portman越来越具有大家风范了，与以往更加的女性气质相比，这次整体做的十分大气，既有很少尝试的恢弘交响乐，又有比以往更丰富的诙谐小品。
其实Portman的突破从02年的Hart's War即开始显现，而03年的The Human Stain更让人眼前一亮，思路的转变，手法的新呈现，都是让你我没有想到的。
女中魁首---Rachel Portman
Rachel Portman1960年12月11日出生于英国。在1996年的奥斯卡上因一部EMMA获得最佳配乐奖，也成为了奥斯卡史上的第一位女性获奖配乐人。 Rachel毕业于牛津大学，她的音乐生涯开始之初是在BBC为一些学生电影，电视电影，系列片作配乐工作。 1989年因为电视系列短剧Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit配乐，而被英国电影学院评为年度最佳年轻配乐人奖，由此开始在配乐界展露头角。 在1992年完成了她第一部在好来乌的配乐作品Used People。也就是从那时起她开始为很多优秀的电影开始作配乐工作，包括"The Joy Luck Club" (1993), "Benny & Joon" (1993), "Only You" (1994), "To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar" (1995), "Emma" (1996), "Addicted to Love" (1997), "Beloved" (1998), "The Cider House Rules" (1999), "Chocolat" (2000) and "The Legend of Bagger Vance" (2000).Rachel Portman在其音乐制作过程中经常和David Snell and J.A.C. Redford合作。她也是Wayne Wang, Norman Jewison 和Beeban Kidron这些名导演首选配乐人。曾在奥斯卡上三度提名，并获得一个金象奖，在金球，英国影视艺术学会，格来美这些重量级评选盛会上也多次提名。最近正为她的首张歌剧配乐"The Little Prince"而积极的做着各项工作。先Portman和电影制作人Uberto Pasolini结婚，已经有两个孩子。
