专辑简介
- The second volume of Andante's Chopin anthology brings performances by some of the composer's most idiomatic interpreters. Starting with Francis Planté, who was born 10 years before Chopin's death in 1839 and knew the composer's friends and his playing style, and Raoul Koczalski whose teacher was a Chopin student in 1844, the set traverses through the playing of Alfred Cortot (his teachers were all Chopin students), Dinu Lipatti (a pupil of Cortot), Jeanne-Marie Darré, Artur Rubinstein and Vladimir Horowitz.
- Another notable teacher, Theodor Leschetizky, who was acquainted with friends and pupils of Chopin, taught Ignacy Friedman, Alexander Brailowsky and Ignacy Jan Paderewski who are all represented here.
- There are interesting contributions from the composer/pianist Ferruccio Busoni, the noted Scriabin specialist Vladimir Sofronitsky who heard Lipatti play in Russia in 1924, Emil von Sauer, a pupil of Franz Liszt and Maryla Jones who studied with Sauer and Paderewski.
- The anthology is divided up into sections featuring the études, Nocturnes, Polonaises and Mazurkas giving the collector the chance to compare different pianists playing the same work.
