专辑简介
When does a groove become a rut? An unusual question that represent the types of self-analysis we all do from time to time, when we stop and wonder whether we're on the right track, and if not - why? In their new CD "Ferris Wheel", Ladder El uses the familiar carnival ride as a symbol, not only for the ups-and-downs of life, but the feeling of "sameness" that life tends to hand us, making us feel like we're going through a repetitious pattern of motion that isn't really getting us anywhere. Driven by forthright lyrics and a sophisticated, energetic adult-alternative style, the songs look curiously at desire as both an inspiration and a source of dissatisfaction depending on whether we perceive we're getting what we want, or believe we're getting what we deserve. The idea of meaningless routine hampering a persons desire is expressed in songs like "Mind Me", about a nightly card game between friends who only talk about life instead of laying their cards down and making something happen, and "Shenan's", a song about a sleazy meat market of a bar that was the band's college hang-out. Sometimes the Ferris Wheel stops and you're the first to get off, and you get to look up at the folks who for a moment were suspended at the very top, looking down. That feeling is expressed in the song "Genuine", a conversation on emotional vantage-point. A mix of confession and expression, the CD is a musically interesting exercise in honesty that tries to say its good to look inside and confront what you see - the good and the bad, and to not be afraid to get off the damned ride if you're sick of going in circles.
