专辑简介

This is by far the best solo effort from Francisco Nixon, if not the best album of the year. It's not often that a record turns out to be so perfect from beginning to end, but “El Perro es mío” is one of them. The songs just feel like they oozed out from the soul of a genius, well think of Prefab Sprout, Nick Drake, Belle and Sebastian or The Go-betweens. Every song unfolds with such precision, charm and humble grandeur that it is impossible to walk away from this album unaffected. Mr Nixon is in fine form here, the music is excellent through and through and every self respecting pop fan should enjoy it! This is the stuff memorable summer days are made of.
Some of the songs are a touching reminder that Fran Fernandez and Ricardo Vicente have plenty of experiences to be told and a wish to express beauty through well-crafted pop vignettes. Fran Fernandez, confirmed as a songwriter of considerable genius, iconic former Australian Blonde’s frontman (highest successful indie-rock act in Spain during the 90`s) and also responsible for some of the finest anthemic moments of the last 10 years leading La Costa Brava, he has explored genres aplenty in his career. However “El Perro Es Mío” is the most fully realized, seamless, and masterfully articulated Spanish pop record in the recent years. Lyrically, we have the classic traits of wit, sarcasm, humour, surrealism and acumen that Fran has become renowned. The melodies are wistful and a touch melancholic; though cheerful and very positive - a marvellous and addictive musical mix.
Seriously talented singer/songwriter in his own right, he achieves the zen balance of Brian Wilson, the sweet inflection of summer a la Love or Teenage Fan Club and twist it into something layered as Terry Hall/ Colourfield or Harper’s Bizarre. The music is guitar and melody driven with fine percussion but it stands apart for the power and meaning behind the anthemic lyrics, 60s pop and folk references but it also shares the crisp production and stainless pop sheen of pastoral pop… James, Cats on Fire, The Fleet Foxes or The Hidden Cameras come to mind. The record is bouncy, upbeat, orchestral pop with a purist vision at its core. There is a song for every mood on this album. All tracks are indeed radio-friendly but four should begin assault to pop charts: Erasmus Borrachas, Nombres y Teléfonos, Los Viajes de Simbad and Mereces toda mi atención.
Recorded between August and September 2008 at the same sound laboratory that was used in the first Nixon record (“Es Perfecta” siesta 232-2006), the record receives the splendour and polished touch of local hero Paco Loco. At times elated and joyous, and other times more ghostly and longing, El Perro es mío is the most accessible and arguably the most impeccably cohesive work of Fran Fernandez's career to date. All pop gems are as majestic as any natural wonder you′ll ever see.
This masterpiece can make your life complete and that′s the biggest complement we can pay them.
Equally passionate, philosophical and catchy, nothing else sounds like it. Unconditionally recommended. Hurrah!
