  Wipsnade Zoo: biography
  biography | discography | gigs
'Wipsnade Zoo's new EP is a bold step into the sunshine... this could well be the release that propels the band into the larger musical consciences'. - timeoff
'The title track, a soaring scarf-waver that's just made for playing at a rock festival in front of tens of thousands... ...Eric's striking tenor is in tune with that breed of bands that includes U2, Coldplay and Athlete'. - THE COURIER-MAIL
The quintet's sound reminds you of 1980's favourites Joy Division and the Church, through to current acts such as Coldplay and Radiohead...Wipsnade Zoo could snare some of the audience of acts of the calibre of Augie March.
  Lee Oliver - WWW.REDBACKROCK.COM
'On the new EP, Wipsnade Zoo stride even further into new territory. Eric Robinson's keening, Yorke-esque falsetto remains, as does the band's flair for the dramatic... ...the songs are deeper, more developed, densely textured. - RAVE
'This is a very polished and quite grand sounding EP'. - Robbie Buck, Triple J
On The world for what it抯 worth, Wipsnade Zoo have shaped their love of the soundscape into a short collection of songs that would sit as comfortably in a film score as on radio. Fans of Wipsnade Zoo抯 2004 release, the coldest day, will recognise in this EP the same courage that it takes to write big songs about big things, but this new release combines that ambition with an assuredness that delivers greater levity and pop-sensibility.
Wipsnade Zoo have built a strong following through regular shows in their home town of Brisbane and beyond. The launch of their debut EP 'The coldest day' saw a full-house at the Zoo, and the success of their 2005 launch of
'The world for what it's worth' further illustrated the growing recognition of Wipsnade Zoo's presence in the QLD music scene.
The world for what it's worth EP has earned Wipsnade Zoo a place as Triple J's 'Super Request' exposed artist of the week, was the focus of a special feature and interview on the J's Home & Hosed. The national radio exposure
has been complemented by sparkling reviews from local street press and wider community.
Since launching their new EP, Wipsnade Zoo have toured Melbourne and Sydney, and are again preparing for the highly successful 'Rock for Refugees' benefit gig held annually at the Zoo (coordinated by Wipsnade Zoo - now in it's 3rd year). After recently completing an extensive tour of North Queensland, Wipsnade Zoo have returned to begin work on their long awaited debut album with a planned release in early 2007 along with the launch of their new website.
  Background
Formed when brothers Eric (vocals and guitar) and Daniel Robinson (drums) linked up with long-time friend Sean Rigley (keys), the collaboration sprung from a shared appreciation for iconic British rock greats like Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and David Bowie. Joined by accomplished musicians James Laubsher (lead guitar) and Mike Willmett (bass), Wipsnade Zoo have honed their craft, creating richly textured compositions suited to soaring anthems.
