Great Surround, the first full length effort from New York City doom, gloom and glitch group The Fatales, is now out and available thanks to carriage from the folks over at Monopsone. It's completely dark and atmospheric dream pop that makes reference points to Interpol way too easy for us. But the separation points are there too, especially in The Fatales' choice of accompaniment instrumentally. Namely, strings. The kids are super talented and we can't think of much else to say that their disc won't be able to on its own. "Islands Of Fortune", our favorite of the lot, is soaring, shimmering and goddamn beautiful.
