This superb compilation takes the radio broadcast as its thematic starting point, prompting 39 of today's most daring digital sound artists to come up with two-minute pieces which are somehow representative of the medium. Just looking over the list contributors should be enough to seal the deal all by itself: Stephan Mathiei, Steinbruchel, John Hudak, Paulo Raposo, Pita, Lawrence English, Pure, Freiband and Pimmon are just a few of the big hitters on the line-up. Some artists embrace the concept more firmly than others: General Magic's freakish fanfare sounds like the start of some apocalyptic public information announcement, while the splendidly titled Ok.Suitcase turn out some hugely appealing laptop pop weirdness. Pita is typically difficult about the whole affair and launches into a couple of minutes of near silence only to throw up an almighty eruption of jittering noise towards the end. A very fine collection indeed.
