Dandelion Gum was trippy-good fun. This one seems to be a bit more serious, and with not much more to offer. Musically, they seem to be a pretty one-dimensional band. This time around, they seem to be going for a more melancholy, introspective sound, but it doesn't really grip me. On its own terms its a pretty solid album, and it doesn't really add or detract from the band, but coming after Dandelion Gum I'd want them to expand their sound. Hell I don't know, maybe try one song without a vocoder (blasphemy, I know). "Iron Lemonade" is the only song that stood out for me. It rides an awesome groove and has a very sinister sound that's atypical of BMSR - very cool. I'd recommend this to fans of Dandelion Gum as long as they're content with getting more of the same.
