Long-awaited third from the much-loved Wellington/Melbourne outfit. 'Local Kid' is the band's first long player since becoming a 3-piece in 2004. With the help of Nick Cave producer Tony Cohen, this new album shows the band have grown considerably since topping the NZ national charts with 'Lydia' back in 2001. While still undeniably Fur Patrol with Julia Deans' strong vocals at the heart, they've trimmed some of the "puppy-fat" from their sound and are playing with more of a sense of purpose than ever before. As always, the emphasis is on strong songwriting but with this new found space in the sound, these wonderful songs have room to breath.
