The album was released on September 24, 1990 for Epic Records The album was a huge success for Candyman thanks to the single "Knockin' Boots" which went to #1 on the Hot Rap Singles and #9 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album iself made it to #40 on the Billboard 200 and #18 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and featured two other minor singles, "Melt in Your Mouth" and "Nightgown". Ain't No Shame in my Game was certified gold on December 18, 1990.
