For me, it's a toss-up between the acoustic Side A and electric Side B. The acoustic side is somber, but at the same time there's a level of complexity in the simplicity of a few strummed acoustic guitars oscillating in select ranges. Horribly constructed sentences aside, I'm having a hard time articulating the appeal of the acoustic pieces; I just know that they have an air of humanity. Side B, on the other hand, is kind of raucous. Some of the reviews mentioned that a portion of the Side B recordings may have been recorded at a wedding. That makes sense, as there is a joyous undercurrent and a sense of energy and place. The scene I then visualize is Bombino jamming out at a wedding not unlike the improbably culturally rich wedding in Jonathan Demme's Rachel Getting Married.
