Supposedly Bulb (aka Misha Mansoor) has written over 125 different songs and this release is a collection of his 22 best pieces. Bulb is a guitar wizard (he doesn't shred) and this is a collection of instrumental technical music (of all kinds) with some experimental and progressive influence. You certainly can hear the talent of the guitar playing and the songwriting at times, but it is tough to listen to 22 songs straight of this. You may want to break it up and listen to on several listens. Supposedly Bulb doesn't sing well so he never added vocals.
Periphery is a band that is Bulb is involved with that is beginning recording technical metal with a vocalist. At the time of this review the first song with their new lead singer is up on myspace. I am not sure I am happy with this very modern sounding vocalist after listening to the technical metal found on this collection of Bulb's best instrumentals, but we will have to wait and see.
