专辑简介
In four songs, the Morris Minors have accomplished what most other Chicago rock bands spend their entire careers trying for, but missing: a sound all their own.
Their self-titled EP is a sleek little production that brings together three Chicago musicians and veteran producer Mark Rubel (Hum, Menthol, Poster Children). What comes out is not-quite-emo, not-quite-rock, and not quite anything that meets in the middle, either. Vocalist Cameron McGill probably tires of his many comparisons to Jeff Buckley, but the truth is, while he’s got Buckley’s trademark warble-croon, he’s not a rip-off artist, and bassist Gabe Grout and drummer Paul Callen aren’t, either.
The band, named after Britain’s tiny Morris Minor car, “the biggest small car in the world,” has the kind of momentum that surrounded the Pumpkins in the early days. It’s not the disgusting flattery of the hyped Ok Go, or the psycho fan worship of a band like Kill Hannah. No, this is a genuine recognition that, ladies and gentlemen, this band might be going places.
