Swedish producer Dan Lissvik takes time out from his role as one half of Studio and delivers this slightly less poppy take on the kind of shimmering, esoteric disco we've become used to from the duo. The same creative essence is present on 7 Trx + Intermission as was evident on Studio's excellent West Coast album, or their great Kylie remix (found on the Yearbook 2 compilation) but there's something slightly more peculiar about these untitled productions, which range from Eastern-flavoroured jams to Vini Reily-meets-Glass Candy spaced-out disco chic. The whole album seems to be coloured by that strange combination of new age weirdness and synth-fuelled krautrock experimentation, and so you'll encounter the likes of track 7 (for lack of a better name for it), which combines comically raucous recordings of birds with rigid, retro-sounding rhythm section propulsions. It's all quite odd, but in a perverse sort of way makes for great after hours party music.
