With Honeymoon Killers from Mars, it was as if the Honeymoon Killers took the mantle of spreading psych-punk's gospel from Flipper, opening straight in your face with "Honeymoon Killers", an ugly, raw, degenerated form of punk-rock. Ditto for "Cornbread Fed", a sludgy, anti-ceremonial pow-wow voodoo-punk. It was a sound turned to manifesto in the spiky tapestry of "I Love To Eat It", both Stooges-ian and Flipper-ian. The ghost of Flipper hung ever more menacingly over the deflated psychedelia of "Rooms Of Doom", and then transcended to the sky in the soaring vibrancy of "Ubangi Stomp", as if Iggy Pop was fronting NEU!. Back on the sleaze, "Cat People" was their most hissing moment yet, akin to a werewolf crawling in some toxic swamp. By "Who Do You Love", we were stuck in this lowlife murk, but sped up to an intoxicated warp by the end. Ever so keep to show the other side of the spectrum, "Shake" soared back up to the sky, in a supersonic elevated array of cosmic punk beams. Excellent!
