Swiss-French flautist Emmanuel Pahud, named "one of the finds of the decade" by Gramophone Magazine, is one of today's most exciting and adventurous musicians. Appointed Principal Flute for the Berliner Philharmoniker aged just 22, his solo albums have sold over 400,000 copies worldwide, including a Mozart Concertos disc that has sold over 70,000 units. Pahud now explores the genius of Johann Sebastian Bach in a 2-CD release featuring all of Bach's flute sonatas. These works were written between about 1720 and 1741 at a time when the recorder was being superseded by the transverse flute, and are a celebration by Bach of the technical and expressive qualities and tonal colors this new instrument offered him.
