Again.Continuing in their mission to keep the spirit of the golden era alive, Soulclap have unearthed a couple of nostalgia-drenched re-edits from a producer who’s pedigree requires no hype, Simon S.The A-side is built around a horn sample from John Klemmer’s Free Soul, from his 1969 Blowin’ Gold LP. A classic amongst the jazz fraternity, and already sampled by Pete Rock and many more, you’ll immediately recognise the hook, even if you don’t spot the Cannonball Adderley sample in the middle 8...
Pete Rock also shows up on the B-side, which flips a sought after slice of real rap from Boston’s Ed OG. Taken from the Truth Hurts LP this re-rub replaces a piano lick with a classic David Axelrod flute loop and gives it an up-tempo twist.
Less laid-back than the traditional Soulclap fair, but the mood is still strictly golden, strictly dope and like Soulclap 4, strictly limited to 500 Copies – so don’t sleep!
