Solid #1 contender for the most ridiculously obscure Japanese punk record ever. So unbelievably good, yet I've never met another person (even among people knowledgeable about the genre) that's ever heard of them. Back in the early 80's this band played traditional crusty Japanese street punk, and did it damn well. By the time this EP had come out, they had altered their sound to this weird blend of hardcore à la Discharge, melodic stuff like their fellow countrymen The Stalin and SS, the ferocious guitars of Gauze, and hyper-fast American skate punk. Some of the straight ahead hardcore tracks even have sing along choruses! And would you believe it if I told you they may have been the first "power violence" band? That's right. Before Infest, before those words ever existed (and twenty years before it became trendy), these Japanese punks had already pioneered a style of music strikingly similar to it -- yet it remains melodic and I definitely wouldn't call it "angry" sounding at all. Listen to the tracks "Hand in Hand", "Rock in Your Head" and "Power of Youth" and tell me otherwise. All of the (outrageous) speed and fun, none of the stupid image that goes along with it. Unlike today's fake wimps, this is one band you won't see on MySpace, ever. Almost no one outside of Japan even knows they existed.
The result of all this is unique in so many ways, I've never heard anything exactly like it. This disc is one of my favorites. Right up there with Bastard's "Wind of Pain" on my most wanted list. Sadly, I cannot afford the ridiculous collector prices this rare record goes for today.
