In their second stroke of spring releases, Spotlight present DJ Amagumo, an artist hailing from Mie Prefecture. The music is basically low-beat, whereas Amagumo is far away from falling back on worn-out, dark illbient sounds or trying to please with sudden nice phrases. Spiced up with occasional super-stupid "Yeeeaaahhh" shouts or rhythms to get lost in (track 7), the aloof, loose beats on this album sound just right. Riow Arai plays the role of the wirepuller, and although everything is neatly calculated, the sound comes across so unassumingly that it sounds totally naturally. Now hear that there's no sampler and not even a computer involved, and you won't believe it!
