US Columbia Recordings 1913-16
This anthology has at its centre Godowsky's American recordings which were made for the Columbia Graphophone Company (1913-16) and the Brunswick-Balke-Collender Company (1920-26) though Godowsky's last known recording is also included. This private recording of The Gardens of Buitenzorg is not only a rare opportunity to hear Godowsky in one of his own original scores but the only known example of him playing after his stroke. Thus the album embraces Godowsky's first and last recordings.
