Mabou delivers with "Our Last Sleep is Our Final Awakening", their sophomore effort on Skean Dhu Recordings. Mabou's Steven K. Smith and Stephen Copley tightened the reins a bit on their sonic explorations on their debut "Summer Artifacts". Here they deliver nine songs of coiled, muscular post-rock with nu-gaze leanings. Copley's strong effected guitar and bass lines blend magnificently with Smith's perfect drum beats and synthesiser work. The result is masterful blissed out rock that washes over and through the listener in waves of shimmering distortion. The music floats perfectly from harsh and demanding to blissed out dream pop completely submerging the listener. Mabou breaks the curse of the sophomore slump and breaks new ground and grows with their second effort. Perfect music for fans of Post-Rock, Nu-gaze or experimental music.
