专辑简介

ArkivMusic: This fascinating recording of Sviatoslav Richter's 1972 recital in Szeged, Hungary was only discovered in the late 1990s. Departing from the hefty repertory of Liszt and Prokofiev, Richter here serves up clean, technically adept, and unsentimental performances of lyrical Romantic masterworks. Most striking is the little extent to which he employs the sustaining pedal, preferring instead to effect a connected melodic line with his finger technique alone--quite a feat!
His Chopin, while straightforward, nonetheless holds the listener in thrall. His octave playing in the secondary theme of the Nocturne is most impressive. His Mendelssohn playing is greatly varied; it is Mendelssohn as Classicist in his unfussy account of the "Andante expressivo," Mendelssohn the Romantic in his explosive account of the "Molto allegro e vivace," and Mendelssohn the minimalist in his slow and deliberate account of the "Andante sostenuto." It will come as no surprise that the technical demands of the Debussy are child's play for Richter. Most interesting here is the element of ferocity he lends to 'L'isle joyeuse,' rendering Debussy's isle less joyful and more orgiastic.
