Vicente Pradal's suite of songs with instrumental accompaniment are settings of the "Romancero Gitano (Gypsy Ballads) written by Federico Garcia Lorca between 1924 and 1927. Pradal sets 12 of the original 15 songs which conjure up gypsy Andalusia: its myths, characters, anecdotes and dramas. Performances of "Romancero Gitano" have been greeted with critical accolades in Europe.
