Ville Leinonen gives us once again the proof that unity does not come from songs that are similar to each other but from a large variety that can be logically unified. The music on Majakanvartijan uni ranges from pop reggae to contemporary folk to chanson to psychedelia to ambient, but the strange, appealing feel remains the same. Majakanvartijan uni constitutes a declaration for humanity against commercialism, for hope against despair, for real world against plastic world and for anything adventurous and spiritual against the one truth & no alternative ideology. This message is mostly declared in Finnish, so it has to be that every country must have their own Majakanvartijan uni. Not every minute of music on the album is perfect (not even close), actually the whole could even slip close to mediocrity without some most excellent melodic moments including "Sumunummienunilillukka." But why is Che Guevara mentioned together with elves and Lapland? Why the fragments and repeated expressions (even in song titles) that seem to mean nothing? After all, one of the most enthralling features of this album is a brilliant confusion!
