2月28日，第21届冬季奥林匹克运动会闭幕式在加拿大温哥华不列颠哥伦比亚体育馆举行。
在云雾缭绕的雪山之下，奥林匹克圣火缓缓熄灭。第21届冬奥会在见证了奥运的繁荣和运动的激情后，于28日晚在加拿大温哥华市中心的不列颠哥伦比亚体育馆盛装闭幕。 有些瞬间留下烙印|有些面孔值得铭记|有些话语等待回味。
本届冬奥会是奥林匹克大家庭在冬季里最大规模的一次团聚，在历时17天的比赛中，约2600名运动员在温哥华和惠斯勒参加了7个大项、15个分项和86个小项的比赛。本届冬奥会上诞生的两项世界纪录全部出自短道速滑赛场，并且全部由中国运动员创造。
“东道主效应”再次在奥运赛场上得到印证，上届冬奥会排奖牌榜第五位的加拿大代表团这次在家门口以14金7银5铜荣登榜首，而且打破了从未在本土举行的奥运会上夺得金牌的“魔咒”。冬季运动传统强国德国、美国和挪威排在第二至第四位，成为领跑的第一集团。
