If youv'e never heard Chet Atkins guitar playing (and singing), this is definitly the one to listen to, and buy.
Fortunately for us, Chet lived long enough to record during the digital age, and this album 'The Magic of Chet Atkins' is his finest work of all; and I know because I've been listening to him faithfully since the 1950s, when I had a couple of his records that I wore out on my old Decca Record Player.
The selection of songs that he chose for this CD is extremely thought out to compliment each other, and the sound is as rich and melodic as it gets for any of his other works.
The only problem I ever have with this album is that I have to avoid listening to the lyrics of the last track, 22, 'I Still Can't Say Goodbye' because it is so beautifully done, and so close to exactly the kind of close relationship I had with my Dad, that I can't listen to him singing it without crying. It's like he's singing it directly at me, so I edit it out to avoid getting deppressed from his absence in this world.
