Forensic Follies is the twenty-seventh studio album by avant-garde guitarist Buckethead, and the sixth album to be originally released on tour, first being sold at Buckethead's May 2009 concerts. It was announced on May 26 for a June 1 release.
The album uses a technique known as Xenochrony which consist of using parts of older songs and taking them to create another new song, for example:
The song "Splinter in a Slunk's Eye" uses the drum track from "Korova Binge Bar" off the album Island of Lost Minds, as well as "(I'll Be) Taking Care of Grampa" and "The Cuckoo Parade" from the same album, and "Splinter Dissection" for the track "Bruised Eye Sockets". The opening title track "Forensic Follies" lends the introduction from the track "Checkerboard Incision" off the album Decoding the Tomb of Bansheebot. The same track also takes samples from the song "Robot Checkerboard" from Slaughterhouse on the Prairie. "Splinter in a Slunk's Eye" also features many songs from Albino Slug, most notably "Symmetrical Slug" and "Siege Engine". "Slunk Shrine" uses the drum track from "Gigan" off the album The Elephant Man's Alarm Clock, while other songs feature sounds from Buckethead's album Slaughterhouse on the Prairie.
