专辑简介

Gudrun Walther and Juergen Treyz, a.k.a "Deitsch", finally present the long awaited follow-up to their acclaimed debut "Koenigskinder" from 2005.
The new album is called "Heimat" (homeland) and is a selection of songs and tunes from Germany, both self-written and traditional.
A noticable difference to its predecessor is the increased amount of original material.
The musicians are Gudrun Walther on vocals, fiddle and button accordion and Juergen Treyz on vocals and various stringed instruments like guitar, mandola, dobro, banjo etc. Like on "Koenigskinder" there are also some excellent musicians guesting on this record. There is bagpipes and hurdy-gurdy, more button accordion, double and electric bass, drums, percussion, flute and a brass section.
The album is a journey to Deitsch's musical roots and beyond the boundaries of trad music; it is both at a time: more traditional than "Koenigskinder", but in a way also more modern with singer/songwriter and acoustic-pop influences. Both musicians have a vast knowledge and experience in various musical styles, ranging from blues and rock to traditional folk music from all over Europe, and they bring it all into their native German traditional music.
As the CD has german liner notes only, here is some background info on the tracks by Juergen and Gudrun:
"Liebesklage" is a medieval song dating back to the 15th century. Gudrun adapted the melody and left out some of the verses, and we gave it a bit of a rock feel.
"Heinz f?hrt Karussell" was written by a long-time friend and comedian, Bernd Kohlhepp, about a disabled boy in his neighbouring village. His name is "Heinz", and he loves the merry-go-round more than anything. Juergen set the words to a beautiful tune.
"Arschloch von Leinsiedel" means "Arsehole from Leinsiedel" and is a traditional "Zwiefacher", a dance tune with changing time signature between 2/4 and 3/4. "Maikaefertanz" is a newly written Zwiefacher from Juergen.
"Die drei Schwestern" and "Das wei?e Fraeulein" are two ballads written after a legend from the South of Germany, involving three sisters, a huge treasure, a castle, the devil and two ghosts! The lyrics are written by Gudrun, music by Gudrun and Juergen.
"Wirtshaus-Zwiefacher" is half traditional, half self-penned. The tune and the first verse are traditional about a man who can't go past any bar, and about his wife, who is not amused about it. This inspired our imagination and we wrote a few more verses to it. The song is in Swabian dialect and sung by Juergen, who is a native speaker.
"Wieder unterwegs" are two tunes from Juergen, the title translates roughly "On the road again", and the music reflects the feelings when leaving for a tour - half sad to leave, half joyful to be on the road once more.
"Amerikafahrer" is a song which we wrote on a tour through the USA with our Irish band Cara. It's a hommage to all the people who left their home country and loved ones for a better life.
"Die Windsbraut" ("Bride of the wind") is a tune by Gudrun, it's in the traditional dance rhythm of a "Rheinlaender". It is named after a painting with the same title by Oskar Kokoschka.
"Heimatland" ("Home country") was written by Juergen on a train journey and it reflects all the different feelings towards our home country. It is still not easy for us to have passionate and patriotic feelings for this country, yet there are things that we really love and after all it is our home - so this is a melancholic love song for Germany.
"Kerwelied" is a party song that Gudrun learned from her granny. It is in the palatine dialect, which - in some regions of the US east cost - is preserved in a very ancient form and called "Deitsch" ! We married it to two Irish polkas because of the happy feel to it.
"Ulmer Menuett" is a traditional minuet from the South of Germany which we found in a compilation of bagpipe music from the "Swabian Highlands". Gudrun wrote a "trio" for it, which completes the traditional dance form.
"Die Bluemelein", our final track, is a well known traditional lullaby which we both knew from our childhood days. It is a beautiful little song.
