Clara Haskil (1895-1960) was one of the past century's most admired pianists, especially in the Mozart repertoire, in which many found her incomparable. Born in Romania, she became a citizen of Switzerland where the town of Vevey named a street after her and the Clara Haskil Competition for young pianists has been held every year since 1963. These historic recordings were made in Germany in 1952 and 1956.
