Giacomo Antonio Perti (1661-1756) was a significant figure of the Bolognese school in the Italian Baroque. He lived for ninety-five years, dying in the year of Mozart's birth, and served as maestro di cappella of San Petronio for sixty years. He composed a large number of works, many of which, unfortunately, have been lost. Some twenty-three oratorios, twenty-eight Masses, and 130 cantatas are listed under his name.
