Mark and Lard (for it is they) have finally bothered to record a follow-up to their debut masterpiece, 'The Worst Album In The World Ever'. For those of you familiar with the Manc scamps' Radio One show, these pastiches of tracks by the likes of The Manics, Radiohead (natch), Robbie, Craig David, Coldplay, Blur and more will need little introduction. For anyone else, The Shirehorses oeuvre is ludicrous cover versions, with the emphasis firmly on the silly end of the humour spectrum. Amongst the nonsense there's a sense that Mark and Lard really relish the chance to get under the sensitive skin of the 'stars' they 'imitate'. This of course gives the whole thing an extra frisson and raises this album very firmly onto a level well above the 'Weird' Al Yankovich and Baron Knights of this world. Quite literally, daft punk.
