"Chamber Rock" stranded on Moon
Return Transport damaged at Lunar Concert Site
Moon Base One: Two Days after the triumphant New Year's Eve Eclipse party, broadcast Live From the Moon, a freak accident has left the southern California musician "Chamber Rock" stranded on the Moon. The Chinese space agency has confirmed that also stranded are; one American crewman identified as Guy Fleegman, five Chinese "band aids," the Chamber Rock mascot "Charon," and two Chinese Moon Base crewmen. Fleegman is said to have sustained non-life threatening injuries during the accident.
Chinese officials report that the first lunar transport had already taken the international astronomy team and the Hollywood film crew up to the orbiting lunar space station when the positioning crane malfunctioned and damaged both the second return transport and the backup transport. The crane moves the transports onto the lift-off assist platform. Without that positioning crane, they say it will be impossible to retrieve passengers from the lunar surface. The Chinese space agency says that while it may take several months before a new mission can be put together to repair the crane, the Moon Base Biosphere can support these guests for at least three months.
Contacted just last year, when Hollywood executives could not find a musician crazy enough to take this gig, Chamber Rock was quick to sign on the dotted line. Watched by an estimated five billion people, the Live From the Moon concert featured "Auld Lang Syne" played at midnight, every hour on the hour, as the Earth turned before them. There was also a special laser light show as China passed by during the lunar eclipse.
