A strange opera, containing style quotations from Rossini, Weill, Stravinsky and many others. Maderna has no problems pairing Gregorian singing with Sch?nberg. Ancient Roman author Petronius was already weird enough; equally weird Maderna making an opera out of his novel Satyricon magnifies the general confusion with factors. Tough stuff, but very funny at times. Of course the libretto makes use of the original text by Petronius. French, Italian, Roman, English spoken.
