Nexus 4/ Shine is the 35th single released by L'arc-en-ciel, one of the key bands in the world of Japanese rock music.
Written by the the band's leader Tetsu, the two songs are representative of L'arc-en-ciel's brighter style (as opposed to the gothic rock of Drink it Down).
Both songs are carefully arranged such that each part, drums, bass, guitars and vocals compliment each other to bring out the liberating message of the songs. When Nexus 4 carries the power that that seems to cut the chains that drag you down to reality, Shine, the theme song of Seirei no Mamoribito brings the scenes depicted in the song to life through its lyrics.
L＇Arc-en-Ciel早前宣布在完成今年的世界巡迴演唱会之後，便会暂停举办巡迴演唱，直至2011年的20周年演唱会。虽然如此，L＇Arc-en-Ciel仍然会继续推出新作品。他们的最新单曲「NEXUS 4」再度成为汽车「SUBARU」的广告歌。而「Shine」则是NHK电视台的动画《精灵守护者》的主题曲，动画改编自上桥菜穂子的奇幻小说。
