专辑简介
In his time, Josef Myslivecek was mostly appreciated as an operatic composer (Bellerofonte, Olympiade, Nitteti, Ipermestra...). All through the 1770s he kept achieving considerable success and popularity. His friendship with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart represents another important piece in the mosaic that exemplifies Myslivecek's personality and compositional aims.
Within the works by Myslivecek, the Six Sonatas for Two Cellos and double-bass (in our recording the bass part is realized by double-bass and harpsichord) are a very unique group of compositions. For all we know, the composer did not normally write music for this combination of instruments, and this piece was probably an occasional work commissioned from him. The composer has written a concerto for cello, but in his chamber works a combination of two cellos is unusual. The Sonatas had been deposited in the Museum of Bohemian Music in Prague, where they were copied by the cellist Jan airc who revived them. They come from the archives of Count Latour at chateau Radenin and according to records, originated around 1780. In our opinion, however, they may have come into existence as early as the 1770s. These sonatas seem to display both Baroque and Rococo elements, but there are also moments anticipating neo-Classicism
