专辑简介

创作于1977年,初版《Bad Reputation》于1990年发行。
This is thin lizzys 8th studio album and is one of the string of excellent albums lizzy had during the 74-83 period where almost all of there best work took place. This album itself was released in 1977 the band at that time was as follows:
  Brian Downey -drums, percussion
  Scott Gorham -lead guitars, guitars
Brian Robertson-lead guitar, voice box, keyboards
Phil lynott -bass guitar, vocals, string machine, harp
Lizzy would go member changes throughout the bands career and I believe they still play today although it never will be real thin lizzy without Phil lynott who died January 4th 1986 of what I think if I remember correctly was a heroin overdose.
  Track listing
  1. "Soldier of Fortune" (5:18) (8/10)
Starts off with a big symbol smash and a slow keyboard and guitar intro with lynott singing over the top. When it gets going there a typical lizzy riff and good solid drum beat. This song has a nice chorus with some nice backing vocals some great soloing on this track to.
  2. "Bad Reputation" (3:09) (9/10)
Great opening riff to this one lynott oozes out the lyrics in a very cool manner. riff reminds me a little of a less heavy "immigrant song" by led zeppelin but is a great riff and a great solo on this one to as always with lizzy song dies out to finish.
  3. "Opium Trail" (3:58) (9/10)
Another hard riff to kick us off with this song has a speedier and quicker tempo to it. Also with this song it has an almost heartbeat bass line and yet another monster of a soloing the middle and a shredder of an outro solo great!
  4. "Southbound" (4:27) (8/10)
A bright sound to the start of this one, the chorus to this one sounds a bit of a country kind of chorus and cowboy like (which lizzy use as a topic a lot). This song has yet another brilliant solo and has the harmonica playing over the top of the solo.
  5 "Dancing in the Moonlight" (3:26) (9/10)
A kind of 50's rock and roll start to this one including the finger snaps and a funky riff on the guitar and baseline. During the chorus there’s a bit of sax and the chorus is one that will get in your head straight away. The solo is another goody and this song isn’t typical lizzy but is nice for a change I like it.
  6. "Killer without a Cause" (3:33) (9/10)
With a title like that this song has to be hard and it waste's no time with a cool riff and good drums. They hit you with a solo very early on which sticks with the theme of this song it’s like the guitar screams. The chorus is only two lines long but cool, and the second solo is better than the first so they think what the hell and unleash a third to finish the song off.
  7. "Downtown Sundown" (4:08) (8/10)
This is another of the softer lizzy songs which is nice for a change and I always seem to like the softer ones (which rock bands doing soft songs is surprising) I think lizzy's style of solo suits the softer songs and there quite melodic. The sax makes another appearance and lynott sings this one great with his very soft and relaxed vocals.
  8. "That Woman's Gonna Break Your Heart" (3:25)
Heavy drum start to this one but when band kick in it settles down a little. During the chorus the heavy drumming comes back in with the kind of sad like guitar lick. The solo on this one has a heartfelt side to it which is cool and the guitar and drums both replicate the rhythm that lynott sings the chorus a great song.
  9. "Dear Lord" (4:26)
More symbol bashing to start us off here with a beautiful intro solo. another kind of slower lovely song here which there are quite a few on this album but the good thing about lizzy is that they don’t cheese them up, they still sound good another heart rencher of a solo on this one fits with the music really really well the end to this song sounds like in movies when someone dies and floats up to heaven, it sounds daft but once you hear it you will know what I mean all in all a nice end to the album.
  Overall album rating (9/10)
Another good album during the magic period they had only downsides are this was the second to last album they made before Phil died and that it’s a little short (only 36 mins) still great though and one of my fav lizzy albums.
