The cops return with their 2nd album, an expansive, pop/rock opus, that pushes rock 'n' roll onto the dancefloor! The wait is over, the cops album is finally here! Sporting a new line up, look and sound, get ready for what is surely to be one of 2007's most prolific albums. The album was co-produced by lead singer/songwriter/visionary/ simon carter and australian producer par excellence, paul mckercher (you am i, augie march), with minor production cameos from magoo (midnight oil, regurgitator) and kim moyes (the presets). It was recorded at electric avenue studios and mixed at studios 301, sydney, and mastered by chris gehringer at sterling sound, new york (wu tang, n.e.r.d). Signing to inertia recordings as the label's first exclusive recording artist last october, it's been a mammoth ride for the band over the past few months, claiming some hefty achievements: ''80 in the shade ep'' (ir2513cd) peaked at #2 on the national independent charts - ''call me anytime'' voted as #33 in triple j's hottest 100 - recently toured with !!! (chk, chk, chk) and the kaiser chiefs. 'drop it in their laps' sounds both fresh and familiar, sucking up all manner of disparate fragments of pop, rock, funk, fuzz and electric soul.
